6 Best Motorhome Parks in Arizona

1. Alamo Lake State Park (AZ): You will remember the Alamo if you go to this Motorhome park. Situated at the end of a narrow road, this park has several camping grounds in close proximity to the Alamo Lake, which is famed for its warm water fishing. Whether you prefer quaint or high-end campsites, you can find a range of quality and views. A favorite is Campground C located on a side road 1.4 miles away from the Ranger Station. Campground C has striking plant and wildlife, and you can spot palo verde trees, saguaro cactus and other desert life, including unusual birds and animals.


2. Catalina State Park:
Ten miles northeast of Tucson is one of the best public motorhome parks in the area. This camp has an upward view of the breathtaking Catalina mountains, with a variety of trails, some easy, some for the expert hiker. Rare foliage can be seen in these parks, in the cluding "forests" of mesquite trees. You can find 75 sites here, some with and some without electricity. 


3. Islanders RV Resort:
Come to this motorhome park in Lake Havasu City, Arizona off season because during peak season, it is a challenge to find a place. It is well worth the effort to find a place to camp, since the park is located on a lake with full hookups, two swimming pools, game and craft rooms and numerous activities for everyone in the family. 




4. Patagonia Lakes State Park.
Visit the "twin lakes" of this park, although the single lake only appears to be two. Located northeast of Nogales AZ, this motorhome park has campsites that blend in well to the scenery, and most have electricity hookups and splendid aquatic views. Often this campground is not crowded, but on weekends, travelers flock to the area. Golf courts are located just 10 minutes away, and there is a grand clubhouse with a fine restaurant. The former home of Stewart Granger and Jean Simmons is a nearby tourist attraction that draws many visitors.


5. Usery Mountain Park
It is obvious why this motorhome park site is so popular, since it is located in the striking Maricopa County Park System. You will want to come early, since it isn't possible to reserve a place in advance; sites are large and beautifully landscaped, a barbecue area, hiking trails of for various levels of experience and unusual desert flora.



6. Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area:
Don't let the name trick you; this motorhome park is not for fools. It is located 10 minutes from downtown Show Low and has very spacious sites with breathtaking lakefront views. This is one of the largest parks in Arizona with plenty of bike and hiking trails and electric hookups. Don't be "fooled" by misleading signs indicating that there is no RV park here. The locals will tell you that this motorhome park is the best kept "secret" in the area.
